Juan Padron is a partner in SafeGuard Insurance Agency and has been in the insurance industry since 2002, focusing on agency operations.  Prior to insurance, Juan worked for the General Electric Company as a Six Sigma Black Belt and, before that, he was an aerospace structures engineer at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston for 12 years.

Juan received a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from The University of Houston, and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from The Institutes.  Since his college days, he has promoted careers in his chosen fields to students at grade levels from elementary to college.  Through service in various affinity groups and trade associations, he has been a champion for education and been involved in awarding many scholarships to young people pursuing college degrees.  From 2012-2013, he got a small taste of the challenges that educators face when he taught a Principles of Insurance class at The University of Texas – Pan American (now UT Rio Grande Valley) for three semesters.

From 2009 – 2016, Juan chaired the board of the IIABA Diversity Task Force (now Diversity Council) and received a Big “I” Chairman’s Award in October 2015.  He continues to work with the Diversity Council on special events and focus groups.  Juan currently chairs the board of the IIABA Invest Program and serves on the boards of the Independent Insurance Agents of the Rio Grande Valley (a local association), Teach For America of the Rio Grande Valley, and his children’s school PTO.
