Since 2002, the Insurance Council of Texas began awarding scholarships and grants to Texas university students. Formed in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the ICT Education Foundation’s Mission is to promote careers in the Property & Casualty insurance industry by awarding scholarships to university students registered at Texas universities offering risk management/insurance programs. The Education Foundation also offers academic achievement awards to the business schools to enhance their insurance and risk management programs.
- Overall, insurance companies, insurance-related businesses, and individual employees have given approximately $1.18 million to support insurance education and the development of future insurance professionals.
- Awarded scholarships to a diverse group of 578 students at 12 universities throughout Texas;
- Contributed $324,000 to our participating institutions in the form of Academic Achievement Awards, including $2,500 to fund the initial Gamma Iota Sigma insurance fraternity at UT-Dallas;
- Contributed $15,000 to the creation of an endowed insurance chair at the University of North Texas
To help students connect with insurers from around the state, ICT proudly hosts its 5th Annual Speed Interview and Network Session on July 16, 2020 at the Property & Casualty Symposium. The unique program allows students an opportunity to interview with more than 20 insurance companies and agencies, who are seeking qualified applicants. Over 60% of scholarship recipients have accepted a job in the P&C industry and ICT, the Education Foundation and members are proud to support the next generation of insurance professionals.
