Since 2002, the Insurance Council of Texas began awarding scholarships and grants to Texas university students. Formed in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the ICT Education Foundation’s Mission is to promote careers in the Property & Casualty insurance industry by awarding scholarships to university students registered at Texas universities offering risk management/insurance programs. The Education Foundation also offers academic achievement awards to the business schools to enhance their insurance and risk management programs.

  • Overall, insurance companies, insurance-related businesses, and individual employees have given approximately $1.18 million to support insurance education and the development of future insurance professionals.
  • Awarded scholarships to a diverse group of 578 students at 12 universities throughout Texas;
  • Contributed $324,000 to our participating institutions in the form of Academic Achievement Awards, including $2,500 to fund the initial Gamma Iota Sigma insurance fraternity at UT-Dallas;
  • Contributed $15,000 to the creation of an endowed insurance chair at the University of North Texas
